Benchrest shooting is the most accurate form of rifle shooting in existence. Competitors strive to fire the tightest possible groups at distances from 100 to 1,000 metres, using purpose-built precision rifles and hand-loaded ammunition.
The sport demands mastery of ballistics, hand-loading, rifle tuning, and reading environmental conditions. The 6mm PPC cartridge — the most accurate ever developed — dominates short-range group shooting worldwide.
SABSF sanctions competitions at club, provincial, and national level. Our members compete locally and internationally, upholding the federation's tradition of sporting excellence and fair play.
South Africa has produced world-class benchrest shooters who compete on the international stage. The SABSF coordinates national teams for IBS and NBRSA-affiliated world-level events.
